Jeep LJ Dana 60 Build Part 2: Coilover Tower Placement (My First 3-Link Front End)

Part 2 of the Dana 60 front axle swap on the LJ, and tonight it was all about coilover tower placement. This is my first time building a 3-link front end with high travel coilovers, so this one is a whole lot of trial and error. I moved these front towers something like four times and ended up basically right where I started. Live and learn. Here is what I worked through in this one: Where to mount the upper coilover towers and how to keep as much up travel as possible, Whether to run the used 14 inch King 2.0 coilovers up front or move them to the rear, Cutting off the Off-Road Anonymous towers and slanting them back to line up over the axle, Grafting the Off-Road Anonymous lower coilover mounts onto the Barnes lower control arm mounts, Shortening the Panhard bar (cut 4 inches, probably could have left more), Plasma cutting the old factory shock mounts off, Starting to think through the full hydro plan and where the orbital and ram are going to live, Like I say in the video, this is a budget build and a first timer build. I am not a pro and I am not pretending to be. If you are about to tackle something like this, either grab a buddy who has done one before or get comfortable being frustrated for a while. I do not have anyone local, so big thanks to the folks who have been answering my questions, including Dirt Lifestyle and my buddy Mark over at FMG, plus the Facebook build groups. Hydro steer is next. I am going to pull the axle back out, finish weld the brackets, and start on the hydro steer mount. Look forward to that one. If this kind of real world, figure it out as you go build is your thing, stick around. Get out there and wheel, or hang out in the garage and cut brackets off your Jeep and put them back on a dozen times. That is also fun. Not sponsored. Just sharing the build. Parts and brands in this video: Off-Road Anonymous coilover towers and lower mounts, Barnes 4WD lower control arm mounts and truss, King 2.0 14 inch coilovers, Poly Performance spacers, ram mount (Barnes or TMR, I honestly lost track). CHAPTERS 0:00 Tonight's progress, even if it does not feel like it 1:00 The coilover question: 14 inch Kings up front or in the rear 1:25 Getting advice from Dirt Lifestyle, Mark at FMG, and the Facebook groups 2:23 Off-Road Anonymous towers vs the Barnes lower mounts 3:47 The full hydro plan: where to put the orbital and ram 5:24 Shortening the Panhard bar 6:26 Plasma cutting the old shock mounts off 6:39 New Off-Road Anonymous lower control arm mount 9:17 Test fitting the lower coilover brackets 11:06 Slanting the towers back to line up over the axle 12:21 Waiting on Poly Performance spacers 12:43 Ram mount placement 14:28 Clearance problems moving the towers back 16:44 Both sides mounted, where they are going to live 18:43 Wrapping up, hydro steer next time
