I Wasted a Full Set of Links (and Fixed My Hydro Steering Mount) | Dana 60 Swap Pt. 3

Three regular videos folks! I was gone for a while there, but I'm back in the garage working on the Dana 60 swap. This time I'm building the mount for full hydraulic steering, and redoing the 3-link arms that I already messed up once. After the geometry frustrations from part 2, I moved the front axle forward slightly to fix the coilover angle, which meant the first set of links I welded up were four inches too short. That's on me. This video covers the hydro steering ram mount fabrication, tacking that bracket onto the truss and axle tube, and remaking the links the right way this time (tack first, check fitment, then finish weld). Still ahead: figuring out where the track bar (panhard bar) mount actually goes now that the axle's moved, and finishing off the upper coilover towers. Chapters: 0:00 Back in the garage after a break 0:21 Why I'm building this hydro steering ram mount 1:16 The problem: this bracket wasn't made for my truss 3:14 Notching and fitting the mount to the axle 5:16 Finish welding the bracket, calling it a night 6:19 Saturday: tacking the bracket to the axle housing 8:18 Checking fitment and weld gaps 9:21 This axle keeps getting heavier the more I weld onto it 11:11 The link math, and why I wasted the first set 16:41 Making the upper link (easier this time) 18:49 Mocking it up, checking the angles 19:57 The next problem: where does the track bar mount go 21:40 What's left before I can finish weld everything Build so far: Barnes 4WD DIY 3-link/4-link kit and Dana 60 truss, Off-Road Anonymous and TMR Customs builder brackets and coilover towers, King 2.0 14 inch coilovers, Full hydraulic steering (in progress), Welded with a Yeswelder Firstess MP200, WEN Roller Dolly - https://amzn.to/4h09ZmW, This is part 3 of the Dana 60 front and rear axle swap series on my 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (LJ). If you're new here, I'm not a pro fabricator, I'm just a Jeep owner figuring this out one mistake at a time and sharing the real process, not just the highlight reel. #Dana60 #JeepWrangler #LJ #OffRoadFabrication #JeepBuild #HydroSteering #3Link #DIYAxleSwapYou can find items featured in, or used in, my videos at: https://www.swbcrawler.com/product-category/featured-items/For 10% off on https://www.yeswelder.com, use the promo code SWBFABDont forget to check out https://www.swbcrawler.com I'm on Patreon too!: https://www.patreon.com/swbcrawler If you want SWBCrawler Swag, check out my store! https://www.swbcrawler.com/shop #4x4CrawlerNetwork #SWBCrawler
